Michael Geraghty
Michael serves as the State of New Jersey's Chief Information Security Officer and the founding Director of the NJ Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell (NJCCIC), where he leads the development and execution of the State's cybersecurity strategy across the Executive Branch. He is responsible for statewide cybersecurity operations, governance, risk management, and building resilience across public and private sector partners.
An accomplished cybersecurity executive, Michael brings a distinguished record of building innovative programs across both private and public sector enterprises, including roles as CISO of the Hudson's Bay Company, Chief Information Officer of the National and International Centers for Missing and Exploited Children, Vice President of High Technology Investigations at Prudential Financial, and Network Intrusion Detection Manager at Lucent Technologies/Bell Labs
He began his career with the New Jersey State Police, where he served 12 years and led the formation and development of its High Technology Crimes Investigations Unit. He has lectured extensively throughout the world on cybersecurity, high-tech investigations, and computer forensics, and has provided expert testimony before the United States Congress and in federal, state, and international courts on computer crime investigations and forensics.
In February 2026, Michael received the Institute for Security and Technology Cyber Policy Award in the U.S. Domestic Policy Impact category, recognizing his leadership in strengthening New Jersey's cybersecurity posture. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Thomas Edison State College.
