Rick Ramirez
Rick is a cybersecurity professional specializing in the security of cyber-physical systems and critical infrastructure technologies. His work focuses on the intersection of operational technology (OT), embedded systems, and wireless communications used in industrial and utility environments.
Rick began his technical career in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Ground Electronics Telecommunications and Information Systems Maintainer, supporting radio communications and field network systems. After his military service, he transitioned into engineering roles supporting medical device manufacturing and later moved into cybersecurity.
He currently works in product security within the medical technology sector, where he focuses on identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities in complex connected systems used in healthcare environments.
Rick’s independent research explores security risks in wireless telemetry systems used by critical infrastructure, particularly those operating in the 900 MHz ISM band. Using software-defined radio (SDR) tools and RF analysis techniques, his work investigates how legacy protocols used in utility metering and industrial telemetry can expose sensitive operational data and infrastructure patterns.
His research interests include embedded device security, RF protocol analysis, industrial control systems security, and vulnerability research in cyber-physical environments.
