Smit Chandrakant Nayak
Smit is a cybersecurity professional, researcher, and author with over five years of experience in the field of cyber defense, digital forensics, and threat analysis. Currently working as a Cyber Security Analyst, he specializes in investigating complex security incidents, ransomware analysis, and advanced forensic methodologies.
Smit’s notable contributions to the cybersecurity research community include multiple research papers and a published book titled “Eyes In The Sky: A Guide To Drone Forensics.” His work focuses on emerging areas such as drone forensics, data recovery techniques beyond conventional methods, and vulnerability assessment of UAV systems, including hands-on research analyzing DJI Mini SE 2 drone vulnerabilities and exploring forensic data extraction using advanced tools and techniques.
Smit is actively involved in academic and community initiatives. He has served as a judge at prominent STEM and hackathon events, including HackNJIT and the Terra North Jersey STEM Fair, supporting innovation and mentoring future technologists. He has been accepted into the PhD program at NJIT and is also pursuing opportunities at leading institutions such as Princeton University.
Smit has received recognition for his contributions, including a nomination for the Cyber Educator of the Year (London). He has also been invited to speak at institutions like Rutgers and Kean University, and industry events like BSides and Hack the Space.
His current work includes a project on ransomware simulation and analysis and writing a new book titled “Decoding Cybercrime: A Strategic Path to Ransomware Forensic Recovery Using Autopsy.” Smit continues strengthening cybersecurity practices and digital forensic science through his research, writing, and community involvement.
